Default Glads for energy or Plate for Armor?

I am new to warriors and Im stuck on choosing which armor to buy. My War is going to be an axe warrior. Im not sure if i should get the glads set for energy or the platemail set for armor. I want my warrior to be veristile, I want him to be able to do runs, farming, pvp, and general gameplay.

Thanks for the help

Gladiator's armor is better than Plate Mail by FAR in pvp. The extra energy is just great for whatever you might be needing it for, whereas the +armor from plate is negligable.

Plate mail is nice in PVE, but still I like Glad's better.

Platemail is the best PvE armor imho, but if you want to do runs and/or PvP, I suggest a set of Glads. Personally, I have a set of both for whatever the occaision may need.

I have a set of Sentinels and a set of Gladiators and switch them according to need/build. Once set may not be optimal for all builds but just having Gladiators isn't a bad choice.

I would go with a +energy set (the most generally useful) and a +health set. The other ones are fairly niche.

Go with glads, there r a much better variety, especially the things that you want to do, where energy comes in handy, the extra armor can easily be made up with a skill, weapon, etc.

Get plate. If you see you need energy. Change your build.
WHY?

Warriors have 2 pips of energy regen. Adding energy to that isn't changing the fact that warriors have 2 pips of energy regen.

PvE is about DPS. Using those 5 extra energy to get that "one extra hit in" doesn't cut it.

Glads only has a use in builds that require more than 20 energy because of specific build reasons such as a skillcombo that uses up 25-30 or more energy or farmingbuilds with double maintained enchantments. In fact, with double maintained enchantments, your energy regen becomes zero, which is the only time where glads really makes a difference since you're working off your enegry pool, not your regen.

Ask any top of the line uber monk. He'll tell you ascetics is pointless, the regen is what matters. Same with warriors. If you have an uber devastating build that kills a target in less than 5 seconds and this build uses 25 energy then that build will kick ass for 5 seconds. Maybe 10 seconds. And then you're resting for energy.

The energy is handy. Yes. But not needed.
In fact, it is of zero use in a large streched out battle or sequence of battles.

Your regen matters more than your energy pool.

In PvP, one extra Protector's Strike can mean a lot. While the armor is sometimes nice, I still prefer Glad's.

PvE...well...

You can boost armor through equipment and skills without sacrificing too much damage, for example defense mods, "Watch Yourself!", Dolyak Signet, etc. Not to mention you get diminishing returns with the more armor you have.

The only option for extra energy outside of Glads is +5 energy mod on weapons which would cause you to lose the +15>50, in stance, or whatever. In my opinion that extra 5 energy from the gladiator armor that I have is much more valuable than the extra 10 armor which can be patched up through many different ways.

You don't have a clue. On a warrior especially, the higher pool is helpful purely because they have such a low innate pool. He's going to use it in PVP which means shock, so he's carrying round some exhaustion. Your whole discussion is about PVE, ignoring the fact that he specifically asked for PVP.

To the original poster, ignore this post. It's mostly garbage and misinformation.

Well I can remember back when I couldn't afford both armor sets, I chose plate because I liked the look. I wouldn't say I regreted it, but there were alot of times when I really wissed I had bought Glads. So go with glads, -10 al vs elemental won't be too noticable.

lol dont worry gladiators is still far better in my opinion since you can do runs and 10 extra armor wont help that much anyway.

All Platemail does for you is +10 armor vs elemental. Most of the damage you need to worry about is physical or armor-ignoring, so I don't see why platemail would be that useful. Glad's, on the other hand, enhances your offensive potenial with no real drawback, since you still have 100 vs physical.

Disagree with the above post. In hardcore pvp where people know what they're doing, warriors are always attacked with elemental weapons. All weapon wielding normally carry an ebon weapon to bypass a warrior's high AL vs. physical. Platemail reduces the effectiveness of this.
